Every tool we cover is scored on the same five criteria, with fixed weights. No vendor pays to be listed or ranked; there are no sponsored placements in our tables.

What earns a high or low score
Features & functionality
30%
Depth of channel management, PMS features, direct-booking website, automation, reporting and integrations.
Earns a high score
Two-way sync with the major OTAs, first-party direct-booking website, guest messaging automation, owner statements, an open API and dynamic pricing hooks.
Earns a low score
iCal-only sync, no direct-booking site or a bolt-on widget, no reporting, closed API.
Ease of use
20%
How quickly a new user can go from sign-up to a working, connected setup.
Earns a high score
Sign-up to first synced OTA in under an hour, modern UI, no mandatory sales call, in-app onboarding.
Earns a low score
Days of setup, dated UI, a sales call required before you can log in.
Value for money
20%
Cost relative to what the tool delivers at typical portfolio sizes (1 to 10, 10 to 50, 50+ properties).
Earns a high score
Transparent per-property pricing that scales down for small portfolios; feature depth matches the price.
Earns a low score
Enterprise-only pricing with modules that stack, or a cheap headline rate that becomes expensive fast.
Integrations & OTAs
15%
Reliability and depth of connections with Airbnb, Booking.com, Vrbo, Expedia and payment processors.
Earns a high score
Two-way API sync with all major OTAs, marketplace of tested add-ons (dynamic pricing, dynamic locks, review automation), integrated payments.
Earns a low score
iCal fallbacks for major channels, no add-on marketplace, payment processing via a third-party the user has to configure themselves.
Support & documentation
15%
Response times, quality of onboarding, docs and community.
Earns a high score
24/7 chat or phone support, dedicated onboarding manager, comprehensive help center and active community.
Earns a low score
Email-only support with 24 hour+ response times, thin docs, no community forum.
How we test
For each tool we set up a real host account, connect at least one OTA in sandbox where possible, and run through a common set of tasks: creating a property, syncing rates and availability, taking a test booking, sending guest messages, and reviewing owner-facing reports. We take screenshots of every step so scores are grounded in what the product actually does today, not what a vendor deck claims.
How we source data
Hands-on testing in a live host account for each tool.
Vendor briefings and demos, treated as claims and re-verified in product.
Public product documentation, changelogs and API reference.
Real customer reviews on Trustpilot, G2 and Capterra, weighted by recency and volume.
Community feedback from Facebook groups and Reddit communities of hosts and property managers.
How we stay independent
No vendor pays for placement, ranking or a favourable score. Some outbound links may be affiliate links; when that is the case we mark it clearly on the page. Affiliate revenue never influences a score or a rank, if we ever had to change that we would say so before you saw the ranking.
Update cadence
Prices are re-checked every quarter. Feature scores are re-tested whenever a vendor ships a material product change, and the whole leaderboard is re-scored annually to catch drift.
Corrections
If we get something wrong, we correct it on the page and note the change in the update log at the bottom of the affected review. Vendors can request a re-review after a major product change; we re-test, but we don't guarantee a higher score.
